The people who run it
Tenth season. 3 regional championships, 5 league championships and district titles every year, with 30 state finals appearances and 3 state champions. Michigan Wrestling Association Regional Coach of the Year in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
Board president since 2023, with children at every level of the club. When he is not coaching on the mat he is behind the camera, capturing the wrestlers' moments.
Joined with no wrestling background when a Parks and Rec flyer came home. Family motto: get comfortable being uncomfortable. Runs the events and fundraising that keep the club going.
Where a gift goes
Parent information night, then the first practice. Cubs, Novice and Open groups form.
MyWay tournaments nearly every weekend, from Howell to Fenton to Brighton. The Clarkston Duals at home in January.
The whole club in one gym in January: photos, the interquad showcase and the seniors' last home dual.
The youth banquet. Then the golf outing in August pays for the next season.
Our history
The Clarkston High School wrestling program was established in the early 1970s. Through the 1980s and 1990s the program became known for developing strong, technically skilled wrestlers, with an emphasis on discipline, technique and a family-like team culture.
Under coach Joe Lint in the 2000s the team began to consistently challenge for state titles. Today Clarkston's success is rooted in its youth programs, which feed the high school team and keep the sport alive in the community.
A wrestler doesn't decide to be good just by themselves. They need people behind them to support them.
