Look after it
Aftercare for your tattoo
A brief overview of aftercare for your healing tattoo. Keep in mind the healing process will be slightly different for each person.
The regimen
Three stages, plainly
First 3 to 5 days
Wash your tattoo twice a day with Dial gold antibacterial (H2Ocean foam soap preferred) and pat dry with a clean paper towel. Apply a LIGHT amount of Aquaphor (H2Ocean Aquatat preferred) over the tattoo, just enough to cover it. The tattoo should not be shiny or greasy.
The following 28 days
Keep washing twice a day and patting dry. Now swap the Aquaphor for a plain unscented lotion like Aveeno plain (H2Ocean Ocean Care), and again, just enough to cover the tattoo.
Long term
To keep your tattoo looking clean and solid, moisturise daily with your choice of lotion and apply sunscreen when going into the sun. Do NOT apply sunscreen to a healing tattoo. Healthy skin keeps your tattoo looking clean long term.
While it heals
Four things to keep away from a fresh tattoo
Please keep fresh tattoos out of the sun, out of bodies of water, away from pets, and refrain from working out until fully healed.
Wash your tattoo immediately if any of these occur, or if it gets dirty in general, and keep an eye on it in case of infection. If something looks wrong, call the shop rather than guessing.
Piercings
Aftercare for piercings
Healing time for piercings depends on the type of piercing you get, but generally you should wash the piercing twice a day with the H2Ocean foam soap, rinse with water, then spray with saline solution and dab up the excess with a clean paper towel until fully healed.
Our piercer will give you specifics based on the placement before you leave. Saline solution and aftercare kits are sold in the shop.
