Meet the artist
A world of her own, painted in Walters
Katy Kinder paints the world she actually lives in: hay bales under a full moon, sunflowers against a burning fall sunset, the long quiet roads of southwest Oklahoma. Her heroes are the ones you'd guess — the swirling skies in her work are a love letter to Van Gogh — but the fields are pure home.
What a joy, she says, to create her own world with its own rules — one where she can enjoy the smell of fresh rain, the light of the moon, flowers blooming on the roadside, and orange leaves in the trees, all at once. That joy is exactly what ends up on the canvas.
Alongside the paintings there's the Flow series: meditative pen-and-ink pieces she draws to slow down, one leaf at a time. Originals sell, prints ship, and commissions — from pet portraits in graphite to the places people love — are always open.

The Flow series
Ink that slows the world down
Between paintings, Katy fills journals and canvases with what she calls her doodles — hypnotic, hand-drawn leaf patterns in pen, each one hours of quiet, meditative line work.
Some stay ink on paper. Some become paintings, layered in color on canvas. All of them started as a way to slow down — and turned into some of the most-loved pieces she makes.
