Bat removal & exclusion

Bats out safely. Sealed out for good.

Bats look for warm, hidden areas to roost: attics, vents, rooflines. Once they're in, they don't leave on their own. We safely remove them, close every gap they used, and walk away knowing they won't come back.

Handled the right way

A structured exclusion, start to finish.

We remove bats safely and without harm using a structured exclusion process. First, we identify exactly where they're entering and install one-way devices at those locations. These allow bats to exit but prevent them from getting back inside.

At the same time, we seal all other accessible entry points across the structure to ensure there are no alternative ways back in. After a short period, once all bats have exited, we return to remove the one-way devices and permanently seal those final entry points.

The bat exclusion process

Out safely. Sealed for good.

We remove bats safely and without harm using a structured exclusion process. The goal isn't just to clear them out. It's to make sure they can't come back.

1

Find every entry

We identify exactly where they're entering: rooflines, soffits, vents, chimneys, attic gaps and small construction openings.

2

One-way devices

Installed at those entry points. They allow bats to exit but prevent them from getting back inside.

3

Seal everything else

At the same time, we seal all other accessible entry points across the structure, so there's no alternative way back in.

4

Return and close

Once all bats have exited, we return to remove the one-way devices and permanently seal those final entry points.

Where do bats get in?

Even tight gaps can be enough.

Bat activity is most commonly found along rooflines, soffits, vents, chimneys, attic gaps, and small construction openings. Even tight gaps can be enough for entry.

We perform a detailed inspection of the structure to locate and address all potential access points, not just the obvious ones.

  • ✓Rooflines
  • ✓Soffits and eaves
  • ✓Vents and ridge vents
  • ✓Chimneys
  • ✓Attic gaps
  • ✓Small construction openings

Exclusions need warm weather

Did you know bat exclusions generally cannot be safely performed during Michigan's winter months? As temperatures drop, our window for safely excluding bats is closing.

Hearing scratching or squeaking?

Bats are making their presence known this time of year. If you're hearing scratching, squeaking, or other noises in your home, give FenGuard a call.

Common questions

Bats, answered.

What risks do bats bring?

Bat droppings (guano) can accumulate in attic spaces and affect air quality over time. In some cases, this may lead to health concerns if left unaddressed. While rabies is rare, any direct contact with a bat should always be taken seriously. If exposure is suspected, contacting a medical professional is recommended.

Is bat removal safe for them?

Yes. Our process follows established wildlife guidelines and Michigan regulations to ensure bats are removed humanely and responsibly. We focus on protecting both your home and the animals involved.

Why more than one visit?

The one-way devices need a short period to work. Once all bats have exited, we return to remove the devices and permanently seal those final entry points.

What if they come back?

The goal isn't just to clear them out. It's to make sure they can't come back. Every bat exclusion carries our 3-year bat warranty.

We had Nick from FenGuard come out to inspect our home, and we were impressed from the start. He was personable, knowledgeable, and professional throughout the entire inspection. He took his time, was very thorough, and answered all of our questions without ever making us feel rushed. It was clear that he genuinely cared about helping us understand what was going on and finding the right solution. Choosing FenGuard over a larger pest control company was definitely the right decision for us.

We recently heard noises in our attic and had FenGuard come out to inspect it. They checked everything thoroughly—even on one of the hottest days of the year—and confirmed that while something may have been there before, nothing is there now. The team was very courteous and respectful of our home. They even wore shoe covers, which we really appreciated. Overall, it was a great experience, and they gave us real peace of mind. Highly recommend FenGuard!

Nick Fenner started this company after gaining valuable experience in the field. He has been honest, courteous, and timely in his dealings with us and, most importantly, eradicated our house of bats. I would strongly recommend his services for pest elimination. I also like to support our military and he is an army veteran to boot.

Early Sunday morning 5:30 I got a call from a member of our senior citizen co-op apartment, stating she had a bird trapped in her bathroom. I started making calls to critter removal companies. Early on Sunday morning FenGuard was the first to call me back. They set up a time to come out, and we're a few minutes early. Nicholas, was very professional and removed what turned out to be a BAT. Nicholas is not just an employee, Nicholas is the small business owner, and United States veteran. Nicholas was kind, courteous, and very professional. And his pricing was extremely reasonable!!! Happy to give this young man a five-star rating!!!

Excellent service. Nick ended up coming to my house four times to make sure that no more bats would be getting into my house. He explained about the bats being protected in Michigan and made a one-way exit door from my attic, so the bats could safely leave but not return. He was very prompt and showed up when he said he would. He also communicated when he would show up and explained the whole process. He was easy to get a hold of via text. I would highly recommend this company for any type of bat or mice problem. I wish other companies would be as reliable and responsive as Fenguard.
